WHAT IS ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (ART)?

FunctionSmart Physical Therapists are trained and certified in ART, which stands for Active Release Technique. It is considered the gold standard in soft tissue treatment and can serve as a diagnostic tool, in addition to treatment, to restore proper tissue function and relieve pain.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY INITIAL EVALUATION?

An Initial Evaluation is approximately 60 minutes long where you will meet and discuss with your therapist the nature of your specific injury. Your Physical Therapist will then assess various measures such as posture, range of motion, strength, and functional movements to identify possible contributing causes to the chief concern. Time permitted, treatment interventions such as ART may commence and you will likely be given a few exercises or stretches as homework to facilitate the hands-on work between appointments. As such, we ask that you please wear comfortable clothes than you can move in to help us better assist you.

WHAT INSURANCES DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept most PPO plans and some HMO plans that have contracted with us. We will work with you to determine insurance coverage prior to your first visit so you will know what your coverage is. For anyone who is out of network or seeking services that are not covered by the terms of their plan, we do have self-pay options and will provide current rates on request prior to scheduling. Visit our Insurance page or contact us for more information.
